چکیده
Abstract. Biogeochemical cycling of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) in the ocean depends on both composition activity underlying biological communities abiotic factors. The Southern Ocean is encircled by a series strong currents fronts, providing barrier to microbial dispersion into adjacent oligotrophic gyres. Our study region straddles boundary between nutrient-rich gyre southern Indian Ocean, an ideal changes productivity. Here, we measured impact C N uptake community diversity, contextualized hydrographic factors local physico-chemical conditions across Ocean. We observed that contrasting characteristics led unique diversity patterns, with significant correlations alpha primary productivity (PP). However, detected no link specific PP (PP normalized chlorophyll-a concentration) beta diversity. Prokaryotic were correlated N2 fixation, which itself prokaryotic process, measurable fixation 60∘ S. While regional water masses have distinct genetic fingerprints eukaryotic fractions, vary more gradually regionally. This suggests phylogenetic strongly bounded physical oceanographic features, while responds chemical conclude concomitant assessments are central understanding dynamics complex responses microorganisms changing environment.

The Makran Coast (Iranian Coastline of the Oman Sea on the Northern Indian Ocean) plays an important role in country’s future navigation and trade due to its accessibility. In 2014, the Iranian Makran coastline was selected by the PMO to be studied as the Phase 6 in the series of Monitoring and Modelling Studies of Iranian Coasts with all disciplines being in investigated including currents. Al...
متن کاملFronts in the Southern Indian Ocean as inferred from satellite sea surface temperature data
Sea surface temperature (SST) derived from the weekly measurements made by the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometers (AVHRR) of NOAA satellites was used to investigate the structure and space-time variability of large-scale fronts in the Southern Indian Ocean (30–60jS and 20–150jE) during the period of 1997–1999. Monthly SST gradient maps provided an overall view of five basic fronts: the N...
متن کاملA Southern Indian Ocean database of hydrographic profiles obtained with instrumented elephant seals
The instrumentation of southern elephant seals with satellite-linked CTD tags has offered unique temporal and spatial coverage of the Southern Indian Ocean since 2004. This includes extensive data from the Antarctic continental slope and shelf regions during the winter months, which is outside the conventional areas of Argo autonomous floats and ship-based studies. This landmark dataset of arou...
